Happy Hereford Zone Day! Our long wait is finally over.

Those of you who don't know what a Hereford Zone day is obviously did not grow up in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Every school kid in the area has listened to the radio for school closings and heard "Baltimore County schools 2 hours late, Hereford Zone closed", and been jealous of those lucky kids in the woods and farmland of the Zone.

There is a friendly dispute in the Frey/Powell house about the reason for Hereford Zone days. Some say we get more snow, due to our proximity to the North Pole. Others say it's the rural roads, which are difficult and inefficient to plow and salt. Either way, we occasionally get the whole day off when the rest of the county is in school - a Hereford Zone day.

Little-known fact: one of the signs of the End Times is "Baltimore County schools closed, Hereford Zone 2 hours late".
